 ·        U.S.C.G. License – Master w/Sailing Endorsement for Inland Waters for Vessels up to 25 Tons (Aug ’05) & Operator of Un-Inspected Passenger Vessels up to 100 Tons For Inland & Near Coastal Waters (Oct ’89).

 ·        American Sailing Association Instructor  & Instructor Evaluator - Certified through Advanced  Coastal Cruising and Celestial Navigation.

 SAILING EXPERIENCE (3SAILING EXPERIENCE (37Years):

 ·        Nov ‘89 To Present - Established part-time business, Close Reach (www.close-reach.com ,  for skippered charters, private sailing instruction, and yacht  deliveries.

 ·        Nov ‘89 To Present - Head sailing instructor for Tradewinds Sailing Center ,      Richmond , CA , teaching Basic Keelboat through Advanced Coastal Cruising levels.   As Head instructor for Tradewinds, responsible for curriculum development in addition to practical teaching of basic to advanced sailing, seamanship, and navigation skills.

 ·        May ‘78 To Present - Racing experience as skipper, navigator, and crew including the ‘92 & ‘94 Pacific Cup races from S.F. to Hawaii , winner of the West Marine/Henri-Lloyd Pacific Cup Navigator’s Trophy  for ’94.

 ·        Bareboat Charters – Nineteen days in Tahiti on Beneteau 36 & 50 through The Moorings & SunSail, One week in San Juan Is. on Grand Banks 36, Jun ‘98 & one week in Jul ‘97 and on Hunter 37, Aug ‘89, with Anacortes Yacht Charters,  Two weeks in The British Virgin Is. on Beneteau 39, Jun ‘87, with The Moorings, and over 100 bareboat charters with Horizon's  and Tradewinds  charter companies in the S. F. Bay area since 1977.

 ·        Boat Ownership – owned several boats including Hans Christian 43T, Ranger 33,  Cal 2-29, Redwing 18, Coronado 15 & Holder 14. Sailed and/or raced approx. three times per month  on  San Francisco Bay and near coastal waters from Ensenada , Mexico to Bodega Bay , CA .
